Look Mom! I made a spoon!

Photos from my class at the Station North Tool Library last night. The basic premise is you take a block of wood and carve our a spoon using the bandsaw, chisel, and a lot of sanding. Top it off with some mineral oil and you have a pretty spoon (or more of a spatula spoon).

Removing Old Carpeting

My first venture into removing the blue high-low carpeting throughout the house is in one of my most trafficked locations.

With the help of Mom and Uncle we were able to remove the lovely carpet this past summer and give the stairs their first good coat of oil in a long time. To our surprise underneath the carpet was a nice set of wood stairs that I’m going to leave exposed. This past week with the help of some trusty needle nose pliers, a screwdriver, and some determination the last of the staples and nails from the carpet disappeared. Here are the before and after photos.
